CULTURE A LA CARTE
This coming Saturday, March 3, the Legion will be
attending the Culture a la Carte event at Chancellor High School, 6300
Harrison Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407. It's a multi-cultural
activity and includes students from several local high schools, plus
teachers and families. Indoors! And there is food!
The hours are from 10 AM to 4 PM. If you aren't already signed up
for this, contact the Commander right quick! (Yeah, yeah, I COULD
have sent a newsletter out a little SOONER…)
MTT
Marching Through Time will be on April 21-22,
2012. Note--that's the Anniversary of the Founding of Rome!
The site, as always, is Marietta Mansion in Glenn Dale, MD.
Public hours will be from 11 AM to 5 PM, so participants should aim to
arrive by 10 AM. As in previous years, you may drive into the camp area
on Friday or on Saturday morning until 9:00 AM, but by 9:30 am on
Saturday all vehicles must be offsite. Parking is available at
the Glenn Dale Community Center, 11901 Glenn Dale Boulevard; it is on
the left about a mile north of Marietta on Route 193. There will
be a continuous shuttle running from the site to the parking
area. Many of us park along the road outside the site, which is
"at your own risk". Should be pretty much what we've done many
times before!
Last year, public admission was free, but before
then it had been about five bucks a head. I'll try to confirm
that, and get a flyer that can be distributed.
Please let me know if you plan to attend!
ROMAN DAYS
The Legion will return to Riversdale House Museum
for Roman Days on June 9-10, 2012. Obviously the entire ancient
world is invited! The street address is 4811 Riverdale Rd, Riverdale,
MD 20737. Public hours will be 10-4 on Saturday and 12-4 on
Sunday. Admission for the public is something like $4 or $5, but
there is no charge for participants. There may be a food plan,
though, so stay tuned for that.

Come one, come all! Remember, you do NOT have to be a reenactor
to participate in some way! And you don't have to be a Roman,
either--we'd love to see Greeks, Egyptians, Britons, Carthaginians, or
anything else like that. More information is *supposed* to be on
the Roman Days page of the Legio XX site, and on the Roman Days Wiki,
but I think we're a tad behind on all that…
MORE DISTANT EVENTS
Our comrades in Legio IX Hispana will be
participating at one of our old regular events, Military Through The
Ages at Jamestown Settlement, March 17-18. They'd love to have us
join them there. It's certainly a good-sized event, with plenty
of public and a neat site to play on. Let me know if you're
interested!

in 2011--life happens! I am Quintus, aka Matthew Amt, the
