CHURCH DISPLAY
Mea culpa, I've been seriously neglecting to follow
through on this one! Pastor Brian Tubbs has invited us to perform
at Olney Baptist Church in Olney, MD, on Sunday August 8. Still
some tweaking of details to do, but basically we'd arrive around 9 AM
and start talking to the Sunday School classes at 10. The main
service starts at 11 and will be based on Paul's "Armor of God" passage
from Ephesians 6. There may be payment!
Please let me know right away if you are available
for this!
CELTIC FESTIVALS
The Legion has an invitation to the Virginia
Scottish Games, September 4-5 at Great Meadows, The Plains,
Virginia. http://www.vascottishgames.org/
We had a pretty good time at that event, last year. This will
probably take the place of the little "Fall Encampment" we used to do,
but stay tuned for other possibilities.
Alec Cunningham has information on a number of other
Celtic/Scottish festivals, so contact him if you are up for any of
these:
Williamsburg Highland Festival, October 2
Richmond Highland Games and Celtic Festival, October 23-24
HARTWOOD DAYS
On Saturday September 11 the Legion will participate
at Hartwood Days, a community fair hosted by the local Boy Scouts troop
near Fredericksburg, VA. There will be improvements to the site
arrangement and facilities based on feedback from last year!
(We'll be more accessible to the crowd, there will be more toilets,
etc.) The event is free to the public from 9 AM to 5 PM,
and more details can be found on the website: http://www.hartwooddays.org
MORE DISTANT EVENTS
Roman and Barbarian friends,
You are all cordially invited to our next event!

info as it comes available!
Leg VI is proud to announce that we have been selected for a "2nd
Saturday" Event at the Roper mountain Science Center in Greenville,
SC! The event will be a "mini-castra" with 800 to 1200 students
and parents coming out to see the glory that was Rome. All Roman
Re-enactors are invited to attend. We would like civilian,
barbarian, and Gladiator impressions too, as we have space for the
Arena, Camp display, Drill area, Artillery display, engineering
display, SOTW, and some supporting events hosted by students and Roper
Mountain staff.
This is a Max Effort event for Leg VI and Leg XI.
Tentative Schedule: Arrive Friday afternoon for setup, event
begins Saturday 10 am, concludes at 4 PM. Teardown that night or
Sunday morning. Short, sweet, and to the point. Saturday
evening we will have a jollification somewhere! Command Hotel TBA.
If you have a display to set up, let us know in advance so we can plan
it into the event.
