Roman Days isn't limited to Romans! We need Celts, Greeks, Etruscans, Gauls, Jutes, Vandals, Egyptians, Goths ( the ancient kind please) and more!! You do not need to be part of an official unit to participate. Single person impressions are most welcome!! See who's coming this year and contact us for more information.

Unit commanders, contact us to let us know how many members of your group are coming and what you are bringing (tents, large displays, animals, chariots, ballistas, etc.)

Arrive and set up on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday morning. You may camp at the site Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night.

Parking space for the public is available on the grass near the gravel lot and access road. Participants are encouraged to park in the lower field (follow the access road to the bottom).

There is a hose for water, and porta-potties--no bathrooms, unfortunately. Straw and firewood are available upon request. No pits may be dug for fires--sand is available for surface hearths if necessary. Check before building any fires, please!

There will be a number of canopies/pop-up flies for shade or rain protection, mostly for the merchants and table displays.

Participants may camp in period or modern tents--the latter should either be set up out of sight on the lower field or simply taken down during public hours. There are a number of hotels within a few miles, mainly on Rt. 450 near the Beltway. There will be a large pavilion canopy and a number of smaller pop-up flies for sun and/or rain protection. There are stores, restaurants, and fast food places within a couple miles, farther west/north along Rt. 193, or near the Beltway.

NEW FOR ROMAN DAYS 2007: Friday evening RAT social and practice drill. Legio XX will host a Friday night picnic/bbq for all Roman Days participants. This will include a practice drill for all legionaries to go over commands, marching maneuvers and rehearsal tacticals if necessary.

Deb, the matron of Roman Days, and her volunteers want to make this the best event you've ever attended. If you have any questions or need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us!!

2. Javelins and spears should not be left stuck in the ground, but laid down, out of the way, when not in use. Weapons should not be left unattended at ANY time.

3. Weapons may only be thrown or shot on the demonstration field, away from the audience, after making certain that no one is downrange.

4. NO HOBNAILS IN THE HOUSE! Leave your caligae outside to avoid damaging the floors. Please do not bring swords or long weapons into the house, either.

5. The use of alcohol on county property is forbidden by law. No illegal substances will be tolerated at any time.

6. There are groundhogs, deer, and a lovely fox on the grounds, but please don't hunt them. Leave your pets at home unless you get permission ahead of time.

7. All other relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations must be adhered to.

There will be a brief registration form to fill out upon arrival.

PARKING is along the gravel access road and at the top end of the upper field. Participants should park in the lower field if possible, please. The gravel lot is reserved for Handicapped parking. You may also park along the shoulder on Rt. 193 if things get desperately crowded. You may unload your vehicle at the display area, but please move it to the parking area by 9:30 AM.
Modern tents may be pitched in the upper field after public hours, or can be pitched in the lower field and left set up all weekend (unless the lower field becomes an artillery range!). There is also straw and firewood in the lower field.
Please do NOT dig any firepits!! There is sand at the bottom of the gravel road for making surface hearths. Unused firewood should be returned to the pile.
Expect heat, sun, bugs, and afternoon thunderstorms. Wear sunscreen, drink plenty of water, and have fun!
