These photos were taken during the Aralis one-shot LARP, Soldiers of Jade, which was run at Brown University's PROCON on March 15, 2002.

Soldiers of Jade Premise: The war against the impure Westerners was difficult, but hard fighting had been expected. What the children of the Pure Land were unprepared for was how trying the battle would prove on mind and soul. When the truce came, many welcomed it as a chance for self-examination, and others cursed it as a sign of weakness.

Now the truce may be nearing its end. A new alliance with the Western Empire and a new King in the dissolute lands of Gwyneth have rumors of war spreading on the wind. The Sokuze has summoned the Clans to talk about plans for the coming year, and the Daimyos have each sent their representatives to meet. But even among the honor-bound Garandi, everyone has more than one agenda...





"Soldiers of Jade" is set in the campaign world of Aralis, and uses the card-based system made familiar by several earlier games. In this LARP, players will take the roles of members of the Garandi Clans, come together to settle on the most honorable and wise way to cleanse the impurities of the Western world. Action will focus on negotiations between the Clans, rivalry for power within each Clan, and the military actions decided on by those gathered.
