The
"Faceless Man" appeared recently among the Shipwrecked, watching
and walking amongst them. He speaks rarely, though at times delivered messages
or warnings to the Shipwrecked. Some consider him a Messenger of whichever
force or power needs to speak to them. Others are less optimistic about his
purpose in being here.
Certainly, it is clear that other beings are able to Channel themselves through the Faceless Man in order to communicate - or ever interact more directly - with the Shipwrecked. It is not always clear who is speaking through the Faceless Man, and some question whether any can be truly certain that the Faceless Man is who he says he is at any given time. Others question whether the Dark God can hear all that is said through him.
When not controlled by another force, the Faceless Man can be a somewhat comical character, mimicking the Shipwrecked and playing amusing games with them. Laughter is rare enough on the island.
This ability to channel has, at times, proven invaluable to the Shipwrecked, and at other times gravely detrimental. Still, the question remains: Who sent the Faceless Man among them, and what purpose does he ultimately serve?
