Morbeth is the God of Death, imprisoned here on this island over five hundred years ago by the other Gods, who feared his belief that even Gods should die. Forgotten in the West, his followers long since slaughtered, he was awakened by the Clan of Death's arrival in the West, and the slaughter which they made on the Blood River.

When Elgan was killed and taken by Spider, Morbeth arose and took his place as guardian of the Gate. He claims to work in unison with Renshi, the Celestial Dragon of Death, though he is greatly mistrusted by most of the Shipwrecked.

He has, however, taken the Clan of Death on this island into his favor, and has used his position as guardian of the Gate to restore the slain Shipwrecked to life.

Recently, after the Shipwrecked were forced out of the Keep by the Demons, they returned to find the Gate empty and Morbeth gone, presumably a prisoner of Spider. Though upon occasion the Shipwrecked have been able to open the Gate for a time to speak with Morbeth, or he is able to channel through the Faceless Man, he is largely lost to the Shipwrecked as an ally, until the Gate is restored.
