The Minions of Spider are many on this island. While some of the dangers are obvious - the Demons, Undead, and Spider Tribes which serve him - some of the threats were less obvious. Some came to serve Spider because they fell to Corruption, were sacrificed to him, were taken by him, or were even raised to serve him. And while these Followers are just as dangerous to the Shipwrecked as those forces which constantly attack him, some have proven to not be so obviously an enemy and have even, at times, served in some way as allies to the Shipwrecked - or at least as sources of information.
Several of the Shipwrecked seek to free these ones from the control of Spider, or at least to use them against the Dark God.
Griffin claims to be the child of Daria
and Elgan, born after Daria had been
taken by Spider. Elgan knew nothing of him until his appearance with
Daria's blades in hand. He is a willing and powerful servant of Spider,
serving Him not out of compulsion but because he was raised to do so,
and harbors hatred for his father whom he feels betrayed his mother.
Akame was once of the Clan
of Darkness, trapped on this island and taken by Spider, transformed into
a powerful undead. He is a skilled and mighty Mystic, who now serves unwillingly
as Griffin's companion and personal healer. Though often forced to act
against the Shipwrecked, he has at times offered them aid and advice when
his will was his own. Several of the Shipwrecked seek to free him from
Spider's control.
Daria, Elgan's wife, was once kin to Daimyo of the Clan of Life,
lost here on this island when their boat was shipwrecked almost 600 years
ago. She was sacrificed to Spider through a betrayal wrought by Noboru...
but what exactly is her fate, none rightly knows. She appeared once before
among the Shipwrecked and aided them, only to be shown Elgan and somehow hurt
his Spirit before disappearing. Is she friend or foe? Does she serve the Spider?
What role did she play in Elgan's demise?
Noboru was once a Witch Hunter
of the Clan of Life and close companion of Daria's. He disliked the ways
of the West and disapproved of the marriage between Daria and Elgan. He
believed that his people were becoming corrupted by Western ways, Daria
most of all, and it was his attempt to "save her" that resulted
in the betrayal and her sacrifice at the hands of the Spider. What was
his fate, and where does his Spirit reside now?
