Bartleby was unhappy with this servitude, and concocted a plan to free himself. Some of the Shipwrecked note that he began this plan after he had Summoned the Spirit of Levon into himself, and wonder if Bartleby was and is not still influenced in some fashion by Talos. |

Bartleby masterminded the appearance of the Yama upon the Island, and arranged an elaborate trap whereby the Goblin King was caught upon the Island by the Yama, slain and destroyed by it, the fragments of his soul sent into the Places Between the Worlds. Oddly, Bartleby aided the Shipwrecked in restoring the Goblin King, though the potion he provided to them to restore Vereth to life ensured his freedom. Bartleby thus escaped the Goblin Realm, and after some time returned to the Island to speak with Kaslia. He offers aid and information, but many are skeptical of his trustiworthiness... and whether he does not serve a darker Master now. Still, in the past, Bartleby was well-liked by many of the Shipwrecked, acting as host when they visited the Goblin Realms, and Channeling forth the Dream-Selves of many to tell tales and answer questions for the Shipwrecked.
